Mouse In Your House? What You Can Do

A mouse in your house may not be entirely accurate, it may be more like mice in your house. You more than likely have more than one critter in your home right now, and that one mouse just happened to be the one that you spotted. If one is able to get inside, several more have followed it through the same opening. If this is the case, then you have some work to do to get rid of them. Read on for some helpful tips on how to get rid of mice in your house.

Remove Their Entrance

If you block the entrance from your home, they may find another way inside, but you need to be vigilant and remove all possible entrances that they may be using to get into your home. Repair minor holes that you may feel are too small for a mouse to get inside, as they can generally squeeze their bodies into those holes. Repair all holes in and around your home, filling them in with pieces of steel wool to prevent the mice from being able to chew their way in again. Eventually, they will find somewhere else to go.

Keep Things Clean

Keep your home as clean and picked up as possible. Wipe down all cooking surfaces daily after cooking or meal preparation and sweep your floors often as well. Wipe up spills and wipe down anything put back into your pantry, such as oil bottles, syrup, or peanut butter jars that may have some of the food residue on the container — which mice may be feeding off of. Keep your home as clean as you can and remove as much clutter as possible to prevent feeding the mice, but also to prevent giving them a place to hide.

Trap The Mice

You're going to have to use traps to trap the mice you currently have still in your home. You've blocked their way out and then taken away their food and hiding spots, so now it's time to exterminate them. Using traps is the best thing you can do to get rid of them from your home. Set the traps according to the manufacturer's instructions, depending on the type of trap you have, they are all different. Set the trap anywhere that you had seen the mice or signs of them. Trap the mice and dispose of any that you have caught, then reset the traps as many times as necessary until you are rid of them all.

If you have a problem with mice in your home, you have some work to do. Use the information above as a guide and/or hire a professional mouse removal and control company to get rid of these pests for you.
