Learning About Bedbug Elimination Techniques

How To Know If Your Home Needs Treated For Bed Bugs

If you have never had an infestation of bed bugs in your home, you may not know what the signs are of such an infestation. Remember, a bed bug infestation can happen to anyone, no matter how perfectly clean their home is. They are often brought in from outside sources. Many people find that they bring bed bugs home with them after staying in a motel or hotel that had an infestation of those bugs.

You Are Catching A Whiff Of A Musty Odor

Have you walked into your bedroom after its door has been shut all day, only to get a whiff of a strong musty odor? If so, this could be a sign that you have bedbugs in your home. While the bed bugs can move around your entire home, most of them will simply congregate on and around the beds in the home. After all, that is where people are at night so that is where they get their food. The musty odor is something that they emit through their sweat glands.

You See Small Blood Spots On Your Sheets

If you have very dark sheets on your bed, it might be a lot harder to spot specks of dried blood. On lighter colored sheets, if you have bed bugs in your home, you are likely to notice some red or almost brownish colored spots. This is dried blood that was left behind when the bed bugs were feeding on you at night.

You Can See Eggs Shells Around The Edges Of Your Box Springs

Take a close look around the edge of your box springs. Use a magnifying glass and a flashlight if you need help getting a clearer look. When you do this, you will want to look for empty egg shells and molting casings that the bed bugs leave behind as they transition through their various phases. If you see any of this, even if you do not see any live bed bugs moving around, you have a bed bug infestation that you need to have treated by a professional.

Once you have decided that you have an infestation of bed bugs, you will want to call to set up an inspection by an exterminator. The exterminator can confirm that you do indeed have bed bugs in your home and then can come up with a plan of action to discuss with you. The sooner you get your home treated, the sooner those bugs will be gone.
